Prasidh Krishna left out as Gujarat Titans face Chennai Super Kings in Match 37

Gujarat Titans made a notable change for their Match 37 meeting with Chennai Super Kings, leaving out pace bowler Prasidh Krishna. The right-armer had been the side’s top wicket-taker of the season so far with 12 wickets, yet the franchise gave no official explanation for his absence.

Arshad Khan came into the XI in his place. Captain Shubman Gill confirmed the swap at the toss but did not go into the reasons behind it.

Form going into the game

Chennai arrived at Chepauk in good spirits after a commanding 103-run victory over Mumbai Indians, in which Sanju Samson hit a century and Akeal Hosein took four wickets. They are looking to keep that momentum going as they chase a late push for a playoff place.

Gujarat, by contrast, were coming off consecutive defeats, the latest a five-wicket loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru despite a fine century from Sai Sudharsan. They were keen to get back to winning ways.

What the captains said at the toss

Gill said Gujarat chose to bowl first to make use of early conditions, adding that the team wanted to sharpen their bowling in the middle overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Chennai captain, said he was happy to bat on a dry surface, backed his batters after their recent runs and stressed the need to adapt to the conditions.
