Gujarat Titans batter Sai Sudharsan has spoken warmly about his emotional link to Chennai Super Kings as his side prepared to face them at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 22.
Growing up a CSK fan
Speaking on JioStar, Sudharsan said that he and his friends used to stand by the roadside during their school days just to see the CSK team bus go past. He called those fantastic memories and said he is grateful to have produced some memorable performances against the franchise.
His first IPL century came against CSK in the 2024 season. He described it as a special and emotional milestone, saying it was not a conscious plan but came at the right time. He added that batting against CSK is always special because of the deep connection he has with them.
Key man at the top
The left-hander has already passed 500 runs this season and remains important to GT’s push for the playoffs, with a series of valuable displays at the top of the order.
What is at stake
GT are looking for a vital win in Ahmedabad, and Sudharsan will again be expected to play a decisive role against the team that shaped so many of his childhood cricket memories. A victory would move the 2022 champions closer to a top-two finish and a place in Qualifier 1.
