Player of the Tournament Shadab Khan credits a defined batting role for his CPL form as the Falcons won their first title by beating Jamaica Kingsmen.
Antigua and Barbuda Falcons meet Jamaica Kingsmen in the final of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League at Kensington Oval on Sunday 20 September.
Rahkeem Cornwall returns for the Falcons in the playoffs and made an immediate impact in Qualifier 1, hitting 49 off 16 balls. Opening partner Evin Lewis scored at a strike rate of 176.92 as the Falcons chased down 77 inside the powerplay. Hasan Nawaz has been impressive at number four, and Amir Jangoo is another key figure, with Moeen Ali, Shadab Khan and Fabian Allen providing experience. Shadab Khan and Sufyan Moqim are the main bowling threats, supported by Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Springer.
Jamaica were outstanding in Qualifier 2. Keacy Carty and captain Rovman Powell produced match-changing innings at numbers three and five, after the middle order had struggled earlier. Maaz Sadaqat has carried the top of the order, and scored a century in the Eliminator. Carty is the tournament’s ninth-highest run-scorer and scored at a strike rate of 140 in his last match, while Saim Ayub has a century and a strike rate of 156. Hunain Shah, Hassan Khan and Andre Russell are the main wicket-takers.
Both sides have explosive batters and match-winning bowlers, so the final could hinge on who handles the conditions and pressure best.
Kensington Oval usually gives a balanced contest, with slight early help for seamers and free scoring once batters are set. Spinners and slower variations can work in the middle overs, and dew later in the evening may make the ball harder to grip and chasing a little easier. A first-innings total of 170 or more is competitive and 180 or more would be a strong advantage.
Partly cloudy and humid at about 27°C at the 7:00 pm local start. The chance of rain is very low, so interruptions are unlikely. Moderate easterly winds may help bowlers, while humidity could bring some dew in the second innings.
