Shadab Khan has said a clearly defined batting role left him mentally free as the Falcons won the Caribbean Premier League, and he was named Player of the Tournament.
The Falcons beat Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets in the final at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, on September 20, 2026, the franchise’s first CPL title in only its third season. Chasing 171, they reached 173/2 in 16.4 overs, with Amir Jangoo unbeaten on 57 from 34 balls and Hasan Nawaz on 47 from 35.
Shadab’s numbers
Shadab scored 132 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 227.58 and took 11 wickets in seven innings at an economy rate of 4.89. His best day came in Qualifier 1, when he took 4 for 16 and won Player of the Match, including a hat-trick of Shimron Hetmyer, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Quentin Sampson.
In his words
Shadab said an all-rounder tries to give everything, and that the bowling went well after a couple of years of struggle, so he needed such a spell. He hopes to build proper rhythm and confidence from here.
On batting, he explained that knowing he had to deliver in the death overs helped him play without undue pressure. Being free, he said, means accepting failure when it comes, but it usually leads to success.
Moqim in the knockouts
Pakistan spinner Sufyan Moqim also starred, taking four wickets in Qualifier 1 and then 4 for 13 in the final to win Player of the Match.
After the Asian Games in Japan, Pakistan’s next T20I assignment is a series against Sri Lanka in October, giving both players a chance to carry their CPL momentum into international cricket.
