Prasidh Krishna Wants to Return From Injury Far Stronger Ahead of 2027 World Cup

India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has described injury rehabilitation as a slow, repetitive grind, and says he is determined to come back at a level well above where he was before he got hurt.

Speaking to JioStar, Krishna said that being sidelined while others play is hard for any cricketer, and that the daily repetition of rehab work is what makes it so draining. In that period, he said, teammates, the sports science staff, family and friends all become vital sources of support, and being around positive people helps during the low points.

A target of coming back much better

Krishna believes recovery is not just about regaining physical fitness. A player also needs the mental resilience to push beyond his earlier standard. He said his own aim is to return stronger than before: if he was bowling well when the injury struck, he wants to be "ten times better" on his comeback.

Why ODI cricket is so demanding

Krishna also reflected on the one-day format, which he called the toughest of all because bowlers have to adjust constantly between the powerplay, the middle overs and the death. Each phase asks for different skills and a different tactical approach.

He added that the growing importance of the powerplay has made the job harder still. But in his view, a tougher format also rewards bowlers who can execute their plans consistently.

The 2027 World Cup in South Africa

Krishna is looking forward to the possibility of playing a World Cup in South Africa, where conditions could pose an interesting challenge for quick bowlers. With high scores increasingly common in ODIs, he said, bowlers must find new tactics and adapt well to local conditions to keep strong batting line-ups in check.

India are preparing for an ODI series against the West Indies, and Krishna’s focus remains on completing his own comeback. His time in rehabilitation, he said, has underlined the value of patience, discipline, mental strength and a solid support network.
