A warm moment between India teammates Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj followed Mumbai Indians’ crushing win over Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
The banter
In a video put out by Mumbai Indians, Siraj playfully teased Bumrah with a well-known line asking whether he had missed home. Bumrah replied with a cheeky suggestion that Siraj get a haircut, and the pair laughed and embraced. Their friendship goes back to many matches for India across formats, including the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final, where Bumrah bowled a match-winning spell of 2 for 18. Siraj later said he believed in Bumrah as a game changer.
Tilak Varma’s century
Mumbai had set the platform with 199 for 5, led by an unbeaten hundred from Tilak Varma. The left-hander reached three figures off 45 balls and scored 82 of those runs in his last 23 deliveries.
Gujarat collapse
Bumrah made an instant impact, removing Sai Sudharsan with the first ball of the Titans’ reply and ending the batter’s lean spell. Shubman Gill, Sudharsan and Jos Buttler all fell inside the powerplay, and Mumbai’s bowlers kept up the pressure until Gujarat were all out for 100.
Ashwani Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 24, which included Gill’s wicket, and Mumbai won by 99 runs.
Season context
It was Mumbai’s second win of the campaign. They had earlier ended a long-running streak with a victory over Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium, then lost four in a row before this emphatic response.
