Mumbai Indians have lost two more players for the rest of IPL 2026, with Quinton de Kock and Raj Angad Bawa both ruled out through injury. The pair have returned home to begin rehabilitation.
What happened to the two players
De Kock suffered a tendon injury in his left wrist before MI’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Bawa tore a ligament in his right thumb during the previous fixture, against Punjab Kings.
The franchise confirmed the news in an official update and said replacements would be named in line with IPL regulations.
Impact on the squad
De Kock’s absence removes a significant top-order option. He last played on April 23 and made 132 runs in three innings, among them an unbeaten 112 against Punjab Kings. Bawa played three games this season and was a useful all-round choice even though he had few opportunities.
A season that has slipped away
The five-time champions are ninth in the table with four wins from 12 matches and are already out of playoff contention. They still have two games to play: Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on May 20, then Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai on May 24 to close the league stage.
Captain Hardik Pandya has also been unavailable for the last three games because of back spasms. After a promising start, inconsistency and a growing injury list have undone MI’s campaign, and the focus now is on finishing the tournament on a positive note.
