Michael Vaughan has criticised the cost of tickets for next summer’s Ashes Test at Edgbaston, calling the pricing really poor. His comments came on September 3, 2026, soon after the ballot opened.
The numbers
A Hollies Stand ticket for the 2027 Test costs £165, against £115 in 2023, a rise of about 43% in four years. Edgbaston members can buy for £92, the cheapest adult tickets for the first three days are £115, and a £2.50 booking fee applies to each ticket.
How it compares
Edgbaston’s top price is still below premium seats elsewhere: the best at Lord’s are £190 and at The Oval £185. Ashes prices are far above those for a regular Test, too. England’s September 2026 Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston has adult tickets from £57.50 to £87.50. Capacity is also reduced because of construction of an on-site hotel.
The 2027 schedule
Edgbaston hosts the third of five Tests. The series opens at Trent Bridge on June 18, then Lord’s from June 30, Edgbaston from July 8, the Utilita Bowl on July 21 and The Oval from July 29. The Utilita Bowl will become the 10th UK venue to stage a men’s Ashes Test.
Demand has been strong before. More than 545,000 people attended the five Tests in 2023, a series that finished 2-2 after Australia won the first two matches. England go into 2027 hoping to regain the urn after a 4-1 loss in Australia in 2025-26.
