Shafali Verma Overtakes Smriti Mandhana as India’s Top Six-Hitter in Women’s T20Is

Shafali Verma has become India’s leading six-hitter in Women’s T20Is, moving ahead of opening partner Smriti Mandhana during a brilliant century.

Verma now has 104 sixes in the format, against Mandhana’s 100. The tally puts her fourth on the all-time list.

The innings

India finished on 195/4 in their 20 overs, and Verma was unbeaten on 100 from 49 balls. She hit three fours and nine sixes, for a strike rate of 204.08.

The all-time list

Only three players are ahead of her. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu has 120 sixes, while New Zealand’s Sophie Devine and West Indies’ Deandra Dottin share the top spot on 134 each.

Two big hitters at the top

Since her international debut, Verma has become one of the most aggressive openers in women’s cricket, willing to attack both pace and spin. Boundary-hitting is a defining part of her game.

Mandhana, meanwhile, remains one of India’s leading run-scorers and most consistent players in T20Is. Between them, the two openers have now hit 204 sixes in the format, a measure of how much power India’s top order has provided over the years.
