Athapaththu Hits Career-Best T20I Ratings After Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup Win

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu has reached career-best ratings in the latest ICC women’s T20I rankings update, following a commanding start to the Asia Cup. She now has 734 batting points, 552 as a bowler and 405 in the all-rounder list.

She stays sixth among batters, has risen three places to 33rd among bowlers and remains third in the all-rounder table. The gains came after Sri Lanka beat the UAE by nine wickets, a match in which she made an unbeaten 48 from 25 balls and then returned 1/10 from three overs.

Sri Lanka team-mates also climb

Imesha Dulai moved up four places to a career-best 18th among batters on 625 points after making 25 from 18 balls. Mithali Ayodhya leapt 18 places to 70th among bowlers with figures of 3/14, and Sugandika Kumari rose five places to 23rd after taking 2/18.

Movement for Bangladesh, Thailand and India

Bangladesh opened with a 71-run win over Indonesia. Sobhana Mostary gained one place to 39th in the batting list and hit a personal-best 500 rating points, while Marufa Akter went up two places to 37th among bowlers after taking 2/6.

Thailand beat Hong Kong by six runs before losing to India by 94 runs. Nannapat Koncharoenkai rose one place to 29th among batters after 41 from 48 balls against India, and Suleeporn Laomi climbed five places to joint-63rd among bowlers following 3/26. India’s Nandani Sharma was among the biggest risers, jumping 38 places to 112th among bowlers after taking 3/18 against Thailand.

Associate players make their mark

The update also reflects the Continental Cup in Romania. Isle of Man batter Lucy Barnett topped the run charts with 257 and helped her side reach the final, moving to joint-67th among batters. Romania’s Rebecca Blake scored 197 without being dismissed; she now averages 153.00 from 20 T20Is and sits joint-89th.
