Rohit Sharma, currently out with an injury, was seen covering his face in the dugout as Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a remarkable chase against Mumbai Indians. SRH reached 243 with six wickets in hand and eight balls to spare.
A strong start from Mumbai
Without Rohit, MI made a fine start through Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks, who added 78 in the powerplay without loss. Jacks hit 46 off 22 balls, while Rickelton anchored the innings with an unbeaten 123 off 55. Naman Dhir made 22 off 17 and captain Hardik Pandya 31 off 15, taking MI to 243/5.
Bowlers struggle
The attack could not hold SRH back, with every bowler going for more than 10 an over. Jasprit Bumrah took no wicket and gave away 54, Ashwani Kumar conceded 41 in two overs, and AM Ghazanfar took two wickets but cost 51.
Pandya backed his bowlers at the presentation, saying the unit had not performed to the standard Mumbai are known for and that the team must work out what changes are needed.
Rohit’s return
Rohit is expected to stay out for roughly another week, which makes him doubtful for the match against Chennai Super Kings on May 2 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. He could be back for the game against Lucknow Super Giants on May 4.
