Ritika Sajdeh in Tears as Rohit Sharma Makes Record Century at Lord’s

Television cameras showed Ritika Sajdeh wiping away tears as her husband Rohit Sharma completed a hundred at Lord’s. The moment spread quickly on social media, with fans celebrating both the innings and the emotion of Rohit’s family.

Rohit reached three figures by sweeping Adil Rashid to the boundary. The Indian dressing room rose in applause, with head coach Gautam Gambhir and the rest of the squad standing to salute him. Virat Kohli walked over to embrace his long-time team-mate before Rohit lifted his bat to the full Lord’s crowd.

Answering the doubters

The knock mattered all the more because of the scrutiny over his form. The opener had gone eight ODI innings without a fifty, and talk about his future in the format had grown in recent weeks. He responded with one of the best ODI innings of his career.

A night of records

It was Rohit’s 34th ODI century. He became the first Indian batter to score an ODI hundred at Lord’s, passing Sourav Ganguly’s 90 against England in 2004, which had been India’s highest ODI score at the ground.

It was also his eighth ODI century in England, the most by any visiting batter in a single country. At 39 years and 80 days, he became the oldest player to make an ODI hundred at Lord’s, and the oldest Indian to score an international century at the venue in any format.
