Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane has been fined ₹12 lakh by the BCCI for a slow over-rate during the IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai, adding a disciplinary problem to KKR’s results.
The fine
The penalty was imposed under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct. It was KKR’s first offence of this kind in the season.
A struggling campaign
The three-time champions are still looking for consistency. They have lost to Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants and now CSK, and one game against Punjab Kings was washed out.
The CSK defeat made it six consecutive IPL losses, a run that equals the second-worst streak in the club’s tournament history.
How the match went
CSK made 192/5, with Sanju Samson scoring 48 and Dewald Brevis 41. Kartik Tyagi was KKR’s best bowler, taking 2/35.
KKR could only reach 160 in reply. Ramandeep Singh top-scored with 35, and the rest of the batting order never built momentum, so the target remained out of reach.
