Piyush Chawla has given full credit to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batters for the way they hunted down a big target against Mumbai Indians, praising their positive approach from the start.
Powerplay statement
Chawla said sides such as Punjab Kings and SRH are capable of chasing huge totals, and that Hyderabad showed it again by attacking in the Powerplay without losing a wicket. He highlighted the early pressure on Jasprit Bumrah, as nearly 30 runs came from his first two overs.
After that, he said, everyone chipped in and the required rate never got out of hand, which he called the real beauty of the chase.
Head’s blistering knock
Travis Head led the way with 76 off 30 balls, including four fours and eight sixes. Chawla noted that Head had a slice of luck, with a faint edge that did not lead to an appeal, and said such moments can change an innings. He added that Head seems to play with extra confidence against India and Mumbai Indians.
Table position
The win lifted SRH to third with 12 points from nine matches, and under Pat Cummins they now have back-to-back victories. Their next fixture is against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 3 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
