Melbourne Stars have signed English twins Craig and Jamie Overton for BBL|16, and the brothers will become the first twins to play in the Big Bash League.
Craig’s debut
Craig, older than Jamie by three minutes, is set to make his BBL debut. He has played eight Tests and seven ODIs for England, and made his Test debut at Adelaide Oval in 2017, so he has experience of Australian conditions.
His 2026 northern summer was strong. He took eight wickets as Trent Rockets reached The Hundred final and was later named the Professional Cricketers’ Association’s Most Valuable Player for England’s domestic season.
Jamie’s switch
Jamie arrives after three seasons with Adelaide Strikers, and the move reunites the pair at the same club.
Stars general manager James Rosengarten described it as a unique story that he hopes fans will enjoy, adding that the more important point was the valuable skills both brothers bring.
Squad depth
Both Overtons offer real pace and power with the bat, which adds depth and firepower. They join a squad that also includes Finn Allen, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Peter Siddle, and the Stars will hope the twins play a central part in their campaign.
