A profile of Trent Rockets, the Nottingham side in The Hundred, covering their origins, home ground at Trent Bridge, identity and record to 2024.
Trent Rockets were one of eight teams unveiled in 2019 as part of the England and Wales Cricket Board’s plan for a new 100-ball competition. They represent Nottingham and the wider East Midlands region, and play their home matches at Trent Bridge, the long-established Test ground that is also the headquarters of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.
The team debuted in the inaugural Hundred season in 2021. Like every franchise in the competition, it fields both a men’s and a women’s side under one brand, a feature the organisers have emphasised since the launch.
Trent Bridge has staged international cricket since the nineteenth century and is regarded as one of England’s classic venues. It has a reputation for good batting surfaces and, in the right conditions, a degree of swing for the seamers, which has produced a range of match styles over the years.
For The Hundred, the ground is configured for a festival-style atmosphere, with the format’s short fixtures and evening starts aimed at families and newcomers as well as established cricket supporters.
The name refers to the River Trent, which runs through Nottingham. As with the other franchises, the branding was designed to feel separate from the traditional county clubs, even though the teams share some home venues with them.
The men’s team won The Hundred title in 2024, which, as of the end of 2024, was their first championship in the tournament. Results for the women’s side vary from season to season and are best checked against official records.
Squads are assembled through an annual draft, with players placed in salary bands, plus wildcard and replacement signings. This means the make-up of the team changes noticeably from one season to the next, and this page deliberately does not list current players, captains or coaches.
Trent Rockets illustrate the competition’s central idea: a city-based identity, a major international ground and a short, television-friendly format. Their 2024 men’s triumph gave the franchise a first title and helped establish Nottingham as one of the competition’s strongest bases.
Their home matches are played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
It is a 100-ball-per-innings franchise tournament in England and Wales, featuring both men’s and women’s teams, first played in 2021.
The men’s team won the title in 2024. This page covers results only up to the end of 2024.
