India’s multi-format tour of New Zealand has been confirmed, and the one-day leg could well be the last time Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli play in the country.
Tour structure
The trip begins in October and consists of five T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests. The Tests form part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle. India will play the T20I series first, move on to the ODIs and finish with the two Tests.
The ODI series opens on November 4 in Auckland. Matches in that leg will be held in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton and Mount Maunganui.
What New Zealand Cricket is saying
NZC chief marketing and commercial officer Glenn Critchley described India as the biggest draw in world cricket. He said the board wants to give New Zealanders an unforgettable tour, one that goes beyond the cricket and marks the shared history and culture between the two countries as well as the growing rivalry and friendship that cricket has created.
Critchley added that the presence of global names such as Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah is expected to generate enormous excitement. He said the board is preparing for the intensity of India’s following, calling the noise, colour and atmosphere at an Indian international a bucket-list experience.
Tickets
NZC expects every match to sell out. Fans have been encouraged to register during the pre-sale window so they do not miss out.
For Rohit and Kohli, the ODI games in New Zealand may therefore carry extra significance, given that this could be their final tour of the country.
