Charlie Dean will captain England Women in the three-match ODI series against Ireland. The games are on September 1 in Leicester, September 3 in Derby and September 6 in Worcester.
Nat Sciver-Brunt and Danni Wyatt-Hodge are missing as they manage their fitness and recovery, and Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Bell and Amy Jones have also been left out. Dean has led England before, in the ODI series against New Zealand in May 2026 when Sciver-Brunt was out with a calf injury.
New faces
Two uncapped players are in the squad: Grace Potts and Kira Chathli. Charis Pavely, who has played two T20Is, could make her ODI debut. Ryana MacDonald-Gay returns after a lower-back injury, and Tilly Corteen-Coleman, with two ODIs from the New Zealand series, keeps her place.
Capsey in line for the gloves
As Jones is absent, Alice Capsey is expected to keep wicket. She has been England’s reserve keeper and adds attacking batting at the top of the order.
Edwards on the opportunity
Head coach Charlotte Edwards said the year has largely been about T20 cricket, but after England’s run to the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final, this series lets players show their 50-over skills and gain experience. She encouraged the younger players to push for future selection by helping England win.
