Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be considered for India’s Test against Afghanistan, but a BCCI source says he is unlikely to play the ODI series that follows because of workload management.
Bumrah’s IPL load
The right-arm seamer has played all 12 of Mumbai Indians’ matches in IPL 2026 and stood in as captain against Punjab Kings. He is expected to play two more league games before the season ends.
The plan
According to NDTV, the initial idea is to name Bumrah in the Test squad provided the medical team clears him and his workload is within limits. The source said he has no chance of featuring in the ODIs, and that any workload concern would see him rested for the whole series.
Despite the crowded schedule between the IPL and international fixtures, India are not expected to make big changes to their Test and ODI set-up.
