The BCCI has released an emotional video of Vaibhav Suryavanshi being handed his India jersey ahead of the Ireland and England T20I series. The 15-year-old has earned the call-up on the back of a stunning performance for India A.
The final that made headlines
In the final, Suryavanshi struck 94 from just 29 balls, with 10 fours and eight sixes, as India A reached 377/9 and beat Sri Lanka A comfortably. He reached fifty in 11 balls, the fastest in List A cricket. He attacked from the first over and set the tone for the whole innings.
Over the tournament he made 211 runs in five matches at an average of 42.20 and a strike rate of 200.95, regularly taking attacks apart with fearless strokeplay.
A remarkable T20 record
His wider T20 numbers are equally striking for a player so young. In 34 matches he has scored 1,477 runs at an average of 44.75 and a strike rate of 220.44, including four centuries and six half-centuries.
Those high-impact displays have made him one of the most exciting young talents in Indian cricket, and he now steps up to the senior squad for the Ireland tour.
