Tahir Calls Mehidy Hasan Miraz a World-Class Bowler After CPL Debut

Mehidy Hasan Miraz made an immediate mark on his Caribbean Premier League debut, and Guyana Amazon Warriors team-mate Imran Tahir was quick to praise the Bangladesh all-rounder after a four-wicket win over St Lucia Kings at Providence Stadium.

A replacement who delivered

Miraz was brought into the Warriors squad to cover for Mohammad Nabi, who left the tournament to link up with Afghanistan’s T20I squad for their series against India. He needed no time to settle in, bowling a tidy four-over spell that included the wickets of John Campbell, Kemol Savory and Charith Asalanka.

His contribution, together with a five-wicket haul from Tahir, meant the Kings were dismissed for 119 in 18.5 overs. Tahir took the main honours with the ball, but Miraz gave him strong backing at the other end.

Tahir’s verdict

Speaking after the game, Tahir described Miraz as a bowler of genuine international standard, saying he had shown his quality in many parts of the world.

A world-class bowler.

A quiet innings with the bat

Miraz was promoted to No. 5 in the chase but his stay was short. He scored one run from four balls before Roston Chase removed him. It did not prove costly, as Guyana reached their target in 18.3 overs to win by four wickets.

With a successful bowling debut already behind him, Miraz will look to build on it as the CPL season moves on, and the Warriors will hope to keep benefiting from his control with the ball.
