The ceremony drew Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rajeev Kulkarni and Diana Edulji, along with cabinet ministers Ashish Shelar and Aditi Tatkare. MCA President Ajinkya Naik, Apex Council members, office bearers and players were also present.

World Cup winners felicitated

Young opener Ayush Mhatre, who captained India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning side, was among the main honourees. Others linked to India’s recent global triumphs were also felicitated: Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube (T20 World Cup), Jemimah Rodrigues, Amol Muzumdar and Aavishkar Salvi (Women’s World Cup), Sanika Chalke (Under-19 Women’s World Cup) and Abhigyan Kundu (Under-19 Men’s World Cup).

The association also recognised Mumbai’s title-winning teams across formats, among them the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, the Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16) and several women’s and age-group competitions.

Grassroots and lifetime awards

The Sharad Pawar Scholarship went to promising young players from the 2024–25 and 2025–26 batches, and clubs, tournament organisers and infrastructure contributors were acknowledged too. Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Chandrakant Patankar, Ravindra Savant, Shobha Pandit and Shrikant Tigdi for their long service to Mumbai cricket as players and administrators.

Naik praised the winners, saying Mumbai cricket keeps setting benchmarks built on legacy, consistency and ambition, and stressed the MCA’s commitment to developing future champions.
