Delhi Capitals fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has been discharged from hospital after a head injury suffered in the match against Punjab Kings.
The incident
Ngidi lost his balance while trying to take a catch and fell heavily, hitting his head on the turf. Play was stopped briefly while medical staff treated him, and he was taken off by ambulance on a stretcher. He was admitted to BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital and was allowed home later that evening after a period of observation.
The official IPL update said he complained of a headache and neck pain but stayed stable throughout his stay, with no major concerns.
Ngidi’s message
The South African later thanked fans for their messages on Instagram and said all was good, a sign that he is recovering well. He was cleared after precautionary checks.
Impact on Delhi
The injury was a blow to Delhi, who went on to concede a record IPL chase of 265 with seven balls to spare. Ngidi had not bowled before leaving the field.
He has been one of the team’s main bowlers this season with seven wickets, alongside Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, and earlier took three wickets against Lucknow Super Giants. Delhi are sixth in the table with six points from seven matches.
