The ICC, under Jay Shah, has announced a series of decisions on governance, membership and financial support following its latest board meetings.
Two new committees
A Governance Review Committee has been set up, chaired by the BCCI’s Devajit Saikia, with Cricket South Africa’s Dr Mohammed Moosajee and ICC Independent Director Dr Ros Rivaz as members.
The Board also formed a Franchise Leagues Committee, chaired by Bangladesh Cricket Board representative Tamim Iqbal. Its other members are Dr Rudie van Vuuren of Cricket Namibia, Devajit Saikia, ECB chief executive Richard Gould and Cricket Australia’s Todd Greenberg.
Membership and funding
Mauritius has become the ICC’s 111th member. The ICC said this reflects its efforts to widen the sport’s reach and create more opportunities in emerging markets. The Board also approved a USD 12.82 million loan to support Cricket West Indies.
Updates on individual boards
- Cricket Canada: reinstatement conditions were approved, but the board stays suspended until every requirement is met.
- Sri Lanka Cricket: progress towards a revised constitution was noted, elections were urged as soon as possible, and the board remains excluded from ICC Board meetings for now.
- Bangladesh: the newly elected Bangladesh Cricket Board president was recognised as the board’s full member director.
- France Cricket: placed on notice for breaches of the ICC Membership Criteria, following a decision at the ICC Annual General Meeting.
