Haris Rauf is trying to revive his Test career after a strong return to four-day cricket. The Pakistan fast bowler has said he wants to be in the frame for the Sri Lanka series.
A five-wicket return
Playing for Pakistan Television in the President’s Trophy, Rauf took 5 for 34 in 13 overs. His spell helped PTV make their opponents follow on, although the match ended in a draw.
The 32-year-old has played one Test, against England in Rawalpindi in December 2022. He dismissed Zak Crawley, but tore a quad muscle while fielding and has not played the format since.
Rauf’s message
As quoted by ESPNcricinfo, Rauf said he is working to put his name forward for the Sri Lanka series, that Pakistan need a fast bowler, and that there are still several President’s Trophy games to come.
Although an established white-ball international, he has limited first-class experience: 14 matches and 47 wickets at an average of 27.04.
Selection picture
Pakistan have Test assignments against Sri Lanka and England coming up. His five-wicket haul gives the selectors another pace option to weigh ahead of the November series.
