West Indies Women have called up Realeanna Grimmond as a replacement for the injured Chinelle Henry ahead of their ODI series in Ireland. It is the only alteration to the group that reached the semi-finals of the recent Women’s T20 World Cup.
Who is missing and who comes in
Henry was a significant figure in the T20 World Cup run, acting as vice-captain to Hayley Matthews. She made 92 runs at a strike rate of 131.42, the best among the West Indies batters, and picked up three wickets.
Grimmond has played five ODIs for her country, the latest being the 50-over match against Australia in Basseterre in April. She has 93 runs at an average of 18.60, including a half-century on her debut against England in June 2025.
A series with Championship points at stake
The trip to Ireland is West Indies’ third assignment in the 2025–29 ICC Women’s Championship. They have found the going hard so far, losing 2-1 to Sri Lanka and 3-0 to Australia, both at home. Only the top eight sides qualify directly for the 2029 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, and West Indies are currently eighth in the ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings, so each point matters.
Head coach Shane Deitz said the group must adjust quickly to conditions in Ireland and collect Championship points to improve their chances of reaching the World Cup.
