Delhi Capitals sign Rehan Ahmed as Ben Duckett’s replacement for IPL 2026

Delhi Capitals have brought in Rehan Ahmed to take the place of Ben Duckett for the rest of the IPL 2026 season.

How the deal came about

The 21-year-old leg-spinning all-rounder joins for INR 75 lakh. He went unsold at the 2026 mini auction, but the Registered Available Player Pool route allowed him to step in, and he is set for his first IPL appearance.

In an official statement, the franchise highlighted his skills with bat and ball. It described him as a dynamic addition who can strengthen the spin department alongside Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam while adding power in the lower order.

Ahmed’s experience

Ahmed has played 13 T20Is for England, taking 15 wickets and scoring at a strike rate of 142.30. His franchise résumé includes the Big Bash League with Hobart Hurricanes, The Hundred with Trent Rockets and the ILT20 with Gulf Giants.

More recently he turned out for Leicestershire in the County Championship after their promotion to Division One, before receiving the IPL call.

Duckett’s withdrawal

Duckett pulled out at the last moment to concentrate on England commitments after a difficult Ashes series, in which he averaged 20.20 without a half-century. He is currently playing county cricket for Nottinghamshire.
