David Warner Signs for Kathmandu Gorkhas in Nepal Premier League 2026

David Warner has been unveiled as the marquee overseas signing of Kathmandu Gorkhas for the 2026 Nepal Premier League, scheduled for October 26 to November 21.

The announcement

The franchise hinted at the signing for days, posting images of World Cup trophies and a necklace bearing Warner’s famous number 31 before naming him. He joins Sri Lanka’s Sahan Arachchige and India’s KS Bharat on the Gorkhas’ overseas list.

Warner said he was excited to visit Nepal and play for the Kathmandu side, praising the passion of its cricket fans and hoping the tournament can bring them joy.

Executive director Anubhab Swar Sirohiya said the deal followed months of talks and persistence. He expects Warner to inspire young players, energise supporters and draw more international attention to Nepali cricket.

Warner’s record

Warner is among Australia’s finest modern batters. In 112 Tests, 161 ODIs and 110 T20Is he has made almost 19,000 international runs and 49 centuries.

His highlights include an unbeaten 335 against Pakistan in Adelaide in 2019, ODI World Cup wins in 2015 and 2023, and the 2021 T20 World Cup. He was also in Australia’s World Test Championship-winning side for the 2021-23 cycle.

In the IPL he won the Orange Cap in 2015, 2017 and 2019, had seven seasons of more than 500 runs, and captained Sunrisers Hyderabad to the 2016 title.
