Both teams have been fined for slow over-rates after the third ODI in Mullanpur. India lost 20 per cent of their match fees for finishing four overs short of the required rate, while West Indies were fined 10 per cent for being two overs behind.
How the penalties work
The sanctions come under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. It prescribes a five per cent match-fee deduction for each over a team does not complete in the allotted time.
Match referee Prakash Bhatt imposed the fines. Both captains admitted the offence and accepted the sanctions, so no formal hearing was needed.
The match
The game itself was a close one. India made 351 for 7, and West Indies chased it down to win by five wickets.
The over-rate penalties are separate from the result. They relate only to the time each side took to complete its bowling innings.
