Broad Expects England to Sweep Pakistan 3-0 in Home Test Series

Stuart Broad has predicted that England will win the three-Test series against Pakistan 3-0, and by a comfortable margin.

Speaking on the For The Love Of Cricket podcast, Broad said Pakistan have the 36-year-old Mohammad Abbas back in the side but called them a poor team overall, adding that England should win 3-0 pretty comfortably.

Pakistan’s changes

Pakistan start without captain Babar Azam, who is out of the first Test with a right-hand injury sustained in a warm-up game at Beckenham. Salman Ali Agha will captain in Tests for the first time. They have recalled Abbas, who has an impressive County Championship record.

England’s form and selection

Broad’s confidence comes despite England’s inconsistent results. They have lost seven of their last nine Tests and have not won a Test series since December 2024. They sit seventh in the World Test Championship standings, one place above Pakistan.

Joe Root is back as captain, Jordan Cox is set to bat at No. 3, and Jacob Bethell is out with a knee injury.

Pakistan recently drew a Test series 1-1 with the West Indies in the Caribbean, but they have not won a Test series in England since 1996. With both teams eager to improve their WTC campaigns, England go in as favourites at home.
