Bhuvneshwar Kumar has said he would be pleased to play for India again, even though he is not part of the team’s current plans.
Time away from India
The 36-year-old last played for India in a T20I against New Zealand in November 2022. Since then he has concentrated on domestic and franchise cricket, continuing to make an impact in the IPL.
He said he is no longer anxiously waiting for a call, but would gladly accept a comeback if one came. Looking back, he explained that conversations with the selectors had initially led him to expect a recall, before he came to terms with the situation.
IPL form
Bhuvneshwar was central to RCB’s IPL 2025 title win, taking 17 wickets. He was even better in IPL 2026, collecting 28 wickets at an average of 17.89 and narrowly missing the Purple Cap.
International record
For India he has played 229 matches across formats, taking 294 wickets at an average of 29.50, with seven five-wicket hauls. His recent IPL displays suggest he still has plenty to offer should the selectors consider him for an international return.
