The Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed it is in discussions with Nepal over a bilateral series, with the intention of staging it before the current cycle finishes in 2027. No dates or format have been settled.
Nepal’s invitation
Nepal approached Bangladesh some time ago with a proposal to host a series at home. BCB cricket operations in-charge Shahriar Nafees said the board had received the invitation warmly and that talks between the two boards are now ongoing.
Nafees said the board wanted to make it happen inside the present cycle, adding that the request from Nepal’s association was one reason it was working on the idea in a positive spirit.
A crowded calendar
The main obstacle is time. Bangladesh’s Future Tours Programme is already full, so the two sides must find a suitable window among existing commitments.
Meanwhile, preparation for other assignments continues. Players who will feature at the Asian Games have started work on their skills, while a separate group has begun a conditioning camp ahead of the series against Afghanistan. The board has planned its 2026-27 schedule well in advance and is expected to fine-tune preparations as each assignment nears.
Why it matters
For Nepal, a series against Bangladesh would offer another chance to gain international exposure. It would also strengthen ties between two South Asian cricketing nations. Until a window is agreed, though, the series remains a proposal rather than a fixture.
