Ashley Noffke Leaves Pakistan Role to Take Over as Netherlands Coach

Ashley Noffke has resigned as Pakistan’s bowling coach to become head coach of the Netherlands men’s team. The 49-year-old Australian succeeds Ryan Cook, who stepped down to spend more time with his family. His appointment was confirmed on Wednesday, September 23, and comes with a two-year contract.

Time with Pakistan

Noffke joined Pakistan in May 2025 as part of Mike Hesson’s staff. In that time the side reached the 2025 Asia Cup final and the Super 8 stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup. He also served as interim Test bowling coach on the tour of England in August 2026. He will stay with Pakistan until their Asian Games quarter-final on September 28.

Plans for the Dutch side

Noffke’s first goal is to help the Netherlands qualify for the 2027 ODI World Cup and the 2028 T20 World Cup. He described the squad as talented and motivated, a regular presence at T20 World Cups, and said he wants to keep the programme moving forward. Building strong relationships within the group will be part of his approach.

KNCB chief executive Huib van Walsem welcomed the appointment, citing Noffke’s international experience and coaching record, and thanked Cook for his contribution.

Playing and coaching background

As a player Noffke appeared in one ODI and two T20Is for Australia, and his first-class career brought 3,766 runs and 386 wickets.

As a coach he won the WBBL with Brisbane Heat, collected consecutive Coach of the Year awards, led Queensland Fire to the WNCL title and helped London Spirit win their first Hundred title. Before joining Pakistan he was in charge of the Otago men’s programme in New Zealand.
