Somerset have extended Jake Ball’s contract through 2027, the club confirmed on August 17. The deal follows a one-year extension agreed in September 2025 that covered the 2026 season.
Ball’s record at Taunton
The 35-year-old signed in October 2023 on a two-year deal after Nottinghamshire released him at the end of that season. He has played 59 times for Somerset across all formats and taken 97 wickets, establishing himself as a reliable wicket-taker since the start of the 2024 campaign.
One of his best moments came in the 2025 Vitality Blast final against Hampshire at Edgbaston, where he took two key wickets as Somerset won the title. Ball has called that victory a career highlight, and said he loves playing for the county. He also wants to keep contributing in every format and help the side win more.
The seamer also brings experience from 24 matches for England.
Hurry’s praise
Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry said Ball is a leading presence on and off the field, and that his knowledge and experience have been central to the club’s recent success. Hurry described him as a cornerstone of the team and expects him to play a major role for the rest of this season and beyond.
Keeping an experienced performer until 2027 gives Somerset depth and leadership as they chase more silverware across several competitions.
