Santner to Captain Strong New Zealand ODI Squad in the Caribbean

New Zealand have announced a near full-strength squad for their five-match ODI series in the West Indies, with Mitchell Santner in charge. The series starts on July 11 at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence and finishes on July 21 in Barbados.

Who is in

Santner arrives fresh from leading New Zealand to a 2-1 Test series win over England. Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Ben Sears, Nathan Smith and Will Young stay on from the red-ball side. Jacob Duffy, who missed the England series on paternity leave, returns alongside Michael Bracewell and Mark Chapman.

Pace bowler Matthew Fisher, 26, could make his ODI debut. He has played Tests and T20Is for New Zealand but not yet in the 50-over format. Mitchell Hay is included as back-up wicketkeeper to Latham.

Who is missing

Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson and Will O’Rourke have been rested to manage workloads after the Test series. Devon Conway has gone home following the birth of his second child, and Rachin Ravindra misses out because of Major League Cricket commitments approved under his national contract.

New Zealand come into the series after losing their latest ODI, against Bangladesh.

Mitchell Santner (captain), Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Kristian Clarke, Jacob Duffy, Matthew Fisher, Dean Foxcroft, Mitchell Hay (wk), Nick Kelly, Tom Latham (wk), Jayden Lennox, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Ben Sears, Nathan Smith, Will Young.
