New Zealand Cricket Names Former Seamer Geoff Allott as Chief Executive

New Zealand Cricket has appointed former fast bowler Geoff Allott as its new chief executive, turning to a figure who knows the organisation from several angles.

Administrative background

After retiring from international cricket, the left-arm pacer built a reputation in management and governance. He served as a director on the NZC board for eight years until 2021 and was among the founding members of the NZC Players Association, set up in 2002.

Allott was NZC’s General Manager of Cricket from 2008 to 2010, and later spent three years on the Canterbury Cricket board. His service was recognised with NZC Life Membership in 2022.

His message

Allott said he has a deep connection to the organisation and the game, having played for New Zealand, worked as General Manager of Cricket and contributed as a board director for over eight years.

He said he would concentrate on collaboration and long-term development, working with the board, players, staff, member associations and commercial partners to build a strong and sustainable structure for cricket in the country.

Playing career

Allott played 10 Tests and 31 ODIs for New Zealand between 1996 and 2000, taking 71 international wickets. At the 1999 World Cup he finished as joint-highest wicket-taker with 20, level with Shane Warne.
