Bangladesh batter Litton Das is very unlikely to play in the opening ODI against Zimbabwe, though the team hopes to have him for the rest of the series. The update came from team physio Bayzedul Islam Khan.
The Injury Timeline
Litton has a Grade I strain in his left calf. Bayzedul explained that this kind of injury usually takes two to three weeks to heal, that two weeks have already gone by, and that full recovery is expected by the end of the third week. He put the chance of Litton featuring in the first ODI at almost nil, but said he should be available for the second and third games provided he passes all fitness tests.
The three-match series starts on July 6, four days after the one-off Test between the sides finishes.
Recent Form and Leadership
Litton’s last appearance for Bangladesh was in the ODI series against Australia, where he made an unbeaten 58 in the third match. The injury ruled him out of the T20Is that followed.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz will captain the side again after missing the third ODI against Australia. He has been rested from the Test against Zimbabwe so that he can concentrate on the white-ball games.
