Virat Kohli has won plenty of praise for a small act of kindness at Lord’s. He was there to watch India Women play Australia in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, a match India lost, ending their chances of reaching the semi-finals.
A Dream Fulfilled
As Kohli left the ground, a Pakistani fan in a wheelchair approached him. The fan said, emotionally, that meeting him had always been a dream, and told him he was a great player.
Kohli stopped straight away, greeted the supporter warmly, exchanged a few words and posed for a picture. The exchange was filmed and spread quickly across social media. Fans in both India and Pakistan commented on his humility, compassion and sportsmanship, and the gesture stood out all the more because it came right after a disappointing result.
The Match Itself
Other well-known cricket figures were in the crowd too, among them Ravi Shastri and Shikhar Dhawan, supporting the Women in Blue.
India needed a win to progress, but six-time champions Australia were too strong. Ellyse Perry made 56 off 38 balls, was named Player of the Match, and helped Australia reach the knockout stage.
