KL Rahul is playing his 100th ODI for India in Guwahati, and he could reach another landmark in the same game: 10,000 international runs.
Closing in on 10,000
Rahul started the match on 9,965 runs across Tests, ODIs and T20Is, which left him 35 short. Should he get there, he will become the 15th Indian batter to pass 10,000 international runs.
His ODI numbers
Going into the milestone game, Rahul had 3,412 runs from 99 ODIs, with eight hundreds and 20 fifties, at an average of 49.44. His highest score in the format is 112 not out.
Across all three formats he has been a flexible option for India. He has opened, batted in the middle order, finished innings at No. 6 and kept wicketkeeping duties.
A busy day before play
Before the toss, Rahul also had the job of presenting Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi with his India cap, as Nabi made his international debut in the same match.
With the 10,000 mark so close, the 100th ODI offers Rahul the chance to celebrate two achievements in one appearance.
