A former Delhi Capitals player, Mohit, has questioned the decisions of the franchise’s think tank after a heavy defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Doubts over timing
Mohit said that making sweeping changes in the eighth match of the season raises serious questions, especially for a team already struggling for stability in both batting and bowling. He accepted that Parakh is talented and has done well at junior level, but argued this was the wrong moment to leave out experienced players.
He suggested Abishek Porel or Prithvi Shaw should have been chosen in the XI. Porel did come in later as an Impact Player after an early collapse and top-scored with 30 off 33 balls. Mohit stressed that, while backing young players matters, timing and the match situation matter just as much.
The match
Delhi had a miserable outing, bowled out for 75 in 16.3 overs. Royal Challengers chased the target in only 6.3 overs with nine wickets in hand. Devdutt Padikkal hit an unbeaten 34 off 13 balls, and Josh Hazlewood was named Player of the Match for figures of 4/12.
