The Bangladesh Cricket Board says it will add security measures for India’s visit if the situation requires it, although formal talks with the Board of Control for Cricket in India have not yet begun.
Background to the tour
India’s trip was originally planned for last September but was postponed amid diplomatic tension between the two neighbours. Relations between the boards have also been tested in recent months, with the IPL-related situation of Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman adding to the strain. The BCB reportedly approached the BCCI earlier this year to stress the importance of rescheduling.
What the BCB said
BCB Security Committee Chairman Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed said player safety is the board’s top priority. He said security is always a major factor for leading touring sides, and that while no formal contact with the BCCI had started, he was optimistic there would be no concerns if the tour goes ahead as planned.
He added that discussions were continuing through official channels and the board was working to finalise arrangements and open formal communication, as the proposed tour is coming up quickly. If circumstances demand it, he said, security would be tightened.
Signs of progress
Recent reports suggest preparations are speeding up. The BCB has reportedly invited bids for television and digital rights to its home internationals in 2026 and 2027, widely read as a sign the India tour is expected to take place.
A white-ball series in August or September is considered likely, but neither board has published an official schedule.
