Bangladesh women are through to the semi-finals of the 2026 Asian Games without bowling a ball, after their quarter-final against China was abandoned.
Rain ends the match
The first quarter-final, at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, was initially held up by a wet outfield. Conditions did not improve enough, and officials called the match off with no toss. Bangladesh progressed on higher seeding. Eight teams are playing a straight knockout, with India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as the seeded sides.
What comes next
Bangladesh will play their semi-final on September 20 against the winner of India versus Japan, which is set for September 18 at the same ground. The other semi-final will be between the winners of Pakistan v Thailand and Malaysia v Sri Lanka.
Schedule
The quarter-finals run across September 17 and 18. Bangladesh v China and Pakistan v Thailand were scheduled for the 17th, with Malaysia v Sri Lanka and India v Japan on the 18th. Both semi-finals are due on September 20, and the final is on September 22. Korogi Sports Park hosts the whole women’s competition, from the quarter-finals to the final.
