Speaking to Sports Tak, Madhwal described Dhoni as seriously fit and said he missed no practice session after Madhwal arrived at the franchise, giving full effort every time. A big admirer, Madhwal called watching Dhoni bat in the nets a privilege. He said he believed Dhoni would definitely play next year.
An approachable presence
The pacer also spoke about Dhoni’s influence on younger players. Simply being in the same dressing room is a big thing, he said, and Dhoni is calm and easy to approach. Players can ask him anything, Madhwal explained, and he will sit down, hear them out and give a full answer.
A relaxed environment at CSK
Madhwal praised the club’s management too, calling the environment relaxed with no pressure apart from the need to perform. He said Dhoni encouraged players to keep the right mindset and focus on their own performances rather than outside pressure.
The final decision on IPL 2027 rests with Dhoni himself, but Madhwal’s view adds to the anticipation over whether the CSK great will be back.
