Ajinkya Rahane will make his Test commentary debut during India’s tour of Sri Lanka. He joins the panel for Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV, whose coverage of the two-Test series begins on August 15, 2026.
The move follows a first-class career of almost 18 years. The former India captain played 85 Tests and scored 5,077 runs, including 12 centuries and 26 fifties, so he brings experience of both playing and leading in the format to the commentary box.
Rahane said he was excited to see Test cricket from a new angle and to share his understanding of tactics, strategy and key moments with viewers.
Sony Sports Network welcomed him to its team, pointing to his composure, resilience and deep grasp of the game. The series will be shown on Sony Sports Network and streamed on Sony LIV from August 15.
