Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma had an unsettling moment at his team hotel when a supporter grabbed his hand as he crossed the lobby.
According to reports, the fan took hold of his hand firmly and tried to draw him closer. Abhishek pulled free straight away, and security staff hurried over and escorted the man out of the area.
In superb form on the field
Away from the incident, the batter has been in excellent touch. In SRH’s Match 36 against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, he made a vital half-century and shared a century stand with Ishan Kishan, which helped the side chase down a target of 229.
After the game, Abhishek spoke about the win, praising the confidence in the batting group and noting how tough Rajasthan’s bowling attack had been to face.
His runs this season have taken him to the top of the Orange Cap standings, making him the leading run-scorer in IPL 2026.
