NewsShanaka’s 39-Ball Hundred Is the Fastest in CPL History
Dasun Shanaka struck an unbeaten 121 from 43 balls for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, a record CPL hundred off 39 deliveries.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots host Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the 21st match of CPL 2026 at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts. The match is due to start at 7:00 pm local time on Sunday.
The Patriots’ probable XI is captained by Jason Holder and has wicketkeeper Andre Fletcher, Johnson Charles, Kyle Mayers, Mikyle Louis and Kevin Wickham in the batting group. Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga add all-round options, and Waqar Salamkheil and Obed McCoy lead the bowling.
The Falcons are captained by Moeen Ali, with Amir Jangoo behind the stumps. Rahkeem Cornwall, Karima Gore, Hasan Nawaz and Joshua James are in the line-up, and Shadab Khan, Shamar Springer, Sufyan Moqim, Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales add to the attack. The wider squad includes Kusal Perera and Evin Lewis.
Recent CPL games at Warner Park show that 170-plus is possible, so a high-scoring match is likely if the top order gets going. Teams should aim to maximise the powerplay and the death overs, and with dew possible, the captain winning the toss may prefer to bowl first. Our preview gives the Falcons a narrow advantage.
Warner Park generally offers a balanced to slightly batting-friendly T20 surface. Batters can score freely once set, and the new ball may move a little for the pacers. As the innings goes on, cutters and slower balls can be effective and spinners may get grip from a dry surface. A first-innings score of 165–180 is competitive, and 180 or more could put the chasing team under strong pressure. Dew later may help the chasing side.
Warm and humid with partly cloudy skies and a temperature of about 28°C. A passing shower is possible, but conditions should be mostly suitable. Moderate to strong winds could help the pacers, while the humidity may be hard on the players. Dew could develop later in the evening.
Our preview narrowly picks Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
It is generally balanced to slightly batting-friendly, and recent CPL matches there have shown that 170-plus is achievable.
Jason Holder captains the Patriots and Moeen Ali captains the Falcons in the likely XIs.
