Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer had an unusual wardrobe problem after his side’s win over Lucknow Super Giants, and solved it by borrowing a cameraman’s shoes.
The shoe swap
Iyer was first seen walking about in slippers after the game. BCCI rules do not allow players to attend post-match presentations in slippers or sleeveless shirts, and breaches can be fined. A video widely shared on social media shows him quickly taking shoes from a nearby cameraman before heading to his presentation duties.
Punjab’s dominant display
On the field, Punjab were put in to bat and made 254 for 7. The foundation was a second-wicket stand of 182 in just 80 balls between Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly, who hit 16 sixes between them as they dismantled the Lucknow attack.
The bowlers then defended comfortably, controlling the middle overs and never letting Lucknow build momentum in the chase. The win stretched Punjab’s unbeaten run to six matches and put them top of the table on 11 points.
Iyer called the young left-handed pair’s batting exceptional afterwards, highlighting their fearlessness and calm under pressure.
What next
Punjab now have a six-day break before they play Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 25.
