The Pakistan Cricket Board announced on August 6, 2026 that off-spinner Hamza Nazar has been suspended for two years and fined PKR 1 million.
What the inquiry looked at
The action followed an investigation into information Nazar supplied in a visa application that was processed through the PCB. The board said the inquiry found he had not given complete and accurate information, had submitted misleading details and had held back material facts.
A three-member disciplinary panel was set up to examine the matter. It reviewed the evidence, heard Nazar’s explanation and gave him a full chance to put his case before it reported its findings and recommendations to the board.
The panel’s findings
The panel concluded that Nazar fell short of the board’s standards of transparency in three ways.
- He did not disclose complete and accurate information.
- He gave misleading details during the visa process.
- He withheld material facts from the PCB.
On the basis of the report, the PCB imposed the suspension and the financial penalty, calling the violations serious breaches of conduct.
Scope of the ban
The suspension bars Nazar from any domestic or international cricket activity sanctioned by the PCB until it ends. The board said the fine and the ban together reflect the seriousness of the misconduct and the importance of honesty in its official processes.
Nazar bowls right-arm off-breaks on Pakistan’s domestic circuit. The PCB has not said which country the visa application concerned, and no statement or appeal from the player had been confirmed at the time of writing.
