The Pakistan Cricket Board and the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation have agreed to work together on an international cricket stadium in Jeddah.
The memorandum of understanding was signed on Wednesday, July 1, by SACF Chairman Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Mohammad Al Saud and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Pakistan’s Interior Minister. Naqvi is in Riyadh on an official visit, meeting Saudi officials on security, counter-narcotics and institutional cooperation.
What the project covers
A joint statement said the partnership will pool expertise in venue planning, technical standards, operations and facility development. The stadium is meant to satisfy international requirements and help Saudi Arabia host major events in future.
Plans also include international-standard playing surfaces, broadcast and media facilities, hospitality areas, high-performance training centres and modern spectator amenities.
Beyond the building
The MoU extends to cricket development programmes, technical knowledge exchange and organising domestic and international competitions to speed up the sport’s growth in the Kingdom.
Prince Saud called the move a long-term investment, telling Arab News it was about building a future for the game in Saudi Arabia through shared ambition and sustainable investment. Naqvi said the PCB was honoured to be part of the journey and hoped the link would strengthen the game and connect the two cricketing communities.
Cricket has grown quickly in Saudi Arabia since the federation was founded in 2020, with grassroots and high-performance programmes launched to widen participation, develop local players and prepare national teams for international competition.
