Manav Suthar will play county cricket in England shortly after a strong Test debut for India. The left-arm spinner took seven wickets in the match and added a useful 28 with the bat, earning the Player of the Match award in India’s commanding win.
Warwickshire stint
Suthar has made himself available to Warwickshire for the next two rounds of the County Championship Division One. He is due to play against Yorkshire from June 12 to 15, followed by a game against Somerset at Taunton.
In a club statement, Suthar said he was very excited to join and that, with the team having started the season well, he hoped to help their push for the title.
Club’s welcome
Warwickshire’s performance director James Thomas welcomed the young Indian at what he called an exciting time for the club. He said the Bears have already played good red-ball cricket this season and that Suthar will bring a new dimension to their bowling attack.
Why it matters
The move follows a breakthrough debut in which Suthar impressed with both bat and ball, adding to his reputation as one of India’s emerging red-ball talents. The two matches should give him useful experience of English conditions, where spinners often meet challenging pitches with limited help.
